Japan Society of Health Information Management Code of Ethics 2005


1. The Society, through the study of how medical records and management of such informaiton schuld be, improves the quality of medical care and aims to realize truly patient-centered medical care.

2. The Society, aware that health information is personal information that must be protected at all costs, pursues its objective of studying how such information schuld be used.

3. The Society provides education in health information magagement, promotes surveys and research, and works for the establischment of the social satus of professional health information magagers.

4. The Society promotes interdisciplinary cooperation with related organizations and furthers international cooperation with expert organizations overseas.

5. The Society seeks accurate entry of information into medical records, clarification of responsibility regarding medical records, and appropriate management and custody of medical records.

6. The Society urges appropriate responses to requests for disclosure of personal information, claims for correction of personal information, and claims for suspension of use of personal information for improper purposes.

7. The Society seeks to oblige contribution rules with respect for privacy in the conduct of surveys and research and in the presentation of results of surveys and reseach.
